$500 Bonus from Chase Sapphire Preferred Card

Posted on June 25th, 2011

Chase has upped is offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. If you sign up for the card and spend $3000 in the first 3 months, you will receive 50,000 bonus points in your account. Those 50,000 points can be redeemed for cash which is applied to your account as a statement credit for $500. Or if you are more interested in travel, those 50,000 bonus points can be converted to $625 worth of hotel accommodations or airfare.

This is a pretty great deal since you are essentially earning a 16.6% cash rebate on the $3000 you spent. Try to find that return anywhere else, especially you you figure you would spend $1000 per month on gas, groceries, utilities, etc.

Don’t forget that this card is still a rewards card. This card earns rewards at 1 point per dollar for all purchases, with an added bonus of 2 points per dollar when using the card to purchase airfare through Ultimate Rewards. (See other benefits of the card below). They also give you a 7% annual points dividend for any points that you redeem.

Another nice feature of this card is if you travel abroad quite a bit, there are no foreign transaction fees charged to you when using the card outside the US. This can add up to be quite a bit if you travel regularly. And they also boast that when you call, humans actually answer the customer service line and not a web of prompts for you to navigate through just to speak to someone.

There is a $95 annual fee on this card, but it is waived for the first year. That is almost an additional 5 years free if you receive the $500 statement credit.

I don’t currently have this card, but I think it is about time to add it to my wallet. In this economy I could definitely use the $500 credit, but am also thinking that I could make this my primary card as well.
