Did Lloyds staff encourage cheeky 4% Vantage savers?
Posted on June 23rd, 2011
Lloyds has stopped savers shuttling cash about to get a 4% instant access savings rate on its current account – but my reader comment of the day highlights how the banks staff may have been the cheeky ones.
Our savings reporter Dan Hyde revealed that Lloyds was putting a stop to the cheeky savers ruse last month and in a candid interview, the banks current account boss said the Vantage account isnt a place for savers and paying them that rate was too rich.
That doesnt necessarily appear to be how Lloyds own staff saw the matter though, as This is Money reader Nick, in Essex, highlights.
He said: My parents opened three of these Lloyds Accounts. They only planned to open one, but the Lloyds manager showed them how do open 3 and funnel the money around.
Presumably opening more accounts improved his bonus. The idea that Lloyds did not know about this problem is utterly laughable – their staff have been showing consumers how to do it!
And from the follow on comments, it looks like Nick wasnt the only one []
Theres not much more you can say on that really.
