Would you really lick the pavement for £400?

Sometimes, press releases come through that make us chuckle at This is Money and gasp in shock and awe. When we spotted ‘One in four Brits would lick the pavement for £400’ from the good people at moneysupermarket.com, we was unsure whether to laugh, cry or mock the 25% of 2,089 adults surveyed. So would you lick the pavement for £400? Apparently Brits are willing to go to extreme lengths for free money, with (unsurprisingly) men far more willing to perform crazy tasks for cash than women. In fact, news editor Ed didn’t even hesitate when asked the question of licking the pavement: ‘of course I would for that money.’ I’m a little more hesitant and picky – I would lick the pavement outside my front door or probably in my hometown, but I wouldn’t lick it in London, the fear of dirt and billions of feet trending on every part makes me feel slightly queasy. Web journalist Tara agrees with me, saying that if she could choose the bit of pavement she would lick it. Although, she followed this up with a rather girlie statement: ‘and maybe if I could give it a bit of a clean first.’ What would consumers do for £400: - Fill out a form to enter a competition = 75% - Wait in a queue for four hours = 57% - Write a 1,000 word essay question = 54% - Lick the pavement = 25% - Take part in a medical experiment = 24% - Sky dive = 22% - Be a crash test dummy = 6% So what would you out of the list above? I would do them all bar the medical experiment (I don’t want to turn into the ‘elephant man’ or the ‘Incredible Hulk’) and the crash test dummy (wouldn’t that kill me?).
